Tending to Your Jewellery: A Ritual of Care

Boozhoo.

Every piece you see here has been created with intention and smudged by my own hands before it ever left my studio. When it arrives, it is already clear, grounded, and ready to walk with you.

If you feel your piece needs a "refresh"—or if you simply want to deepen your own connection to it—smudging is a beautiful way to reset the energy between you, your jewellery, and the world around you. It isn't a chore; it is an act of reciprocity.

Opening the Conversation

Before you light your medicine, take a moment to be still. Hold your piece in your hands and bring your thoughts to the present moment.

If you are using asemaa, please hold it in your left hand—the side closest to your heart. Offer a pinch of asemaa to the earth or hold it with intention as you offer a simple, heartfelt prayer or word of thanks. This is how we open the lines of communication. You are acknowledging the spirit of the medicine you are about to use, the spirit of the jewellery you are holding, and your own place in that circle.

Working with the Smoke

Once your medicine (like cedar, sage, or sweetgrass) is gently lit and producing a soft smoke, use your hand or a feather to guide the smoke over your jewellery.

As you do this, let your intentions be quiet and sincere. You might ask for the medicine to lift away any heaviness the piece has picked up during the day, or you might simply ask for it to be refreshed so it can continue to support you.

Letting the Medicine Rest

There is wisdom in allowing the medicine to finish its work. Ideally, let your smudge bundle burn out naturally in a safe, fireproof vessel. This allows the medicine to complete its cycle without being rushed.

If you must extinguish the bundle early, please do so with great care and gentleness. Don't rush to snuff it out; treat the ember as you would a small, living flame. Gently press it against the surface of your vessel until it is fully extinguished, thanking it for the work it did during this time.

Please always use a fireproof bowl or shell, and ensure your space is well-ventilated while smudging.
